Purpose

Maximos offers educational explanations of Orthodox Christianity and general spiritual reflection. Its ChatGPT plugin is free and includes no purchases or donations. Access to ChatGPT is subject to OpenAI’s requirements and terms.

Limits of the service

Maximos’s answers are AI-generated and can be incomplete or incorrect, including in interpretation and citations. Verify significant claims using the cited sources. Maximos is not an official authority of an Orthodox jurisdiction and does not replace a priest, confessor, qualified clinician, or emergency service.

“Orthodox psychotherapy” describes patristic spiritual healing in this project. It does not mean licensed psychological treatment or medical diagnosis. Do not use the service to decide treatment, medication, or emergency actions.

Responsible use

Use the service lawfully and respect other people’s privacy and the rights of source authors and translators. Do not submit private information about other people or use the service to fabricate citations. Source texts may have different rights and attribution requirements; a quotation in an answer is not permission to republish an entire work.

Availability

The service depends on ChatGPT and hosted infrastructure. Features, available sources, and availability may change. No guaranteed response time or uninterrupted service is offered.
